What is Minuteman?

Minuteman® is an advanced one-of-a-kind spinal fusion device that immobilizes your spine. It works on your thoracic, lumbar, or sacral spine to provide stability so there’s less movement between spinal vertebrae, which can cause or aggravate back pain. 

The Minuteman procedure is brief and minimally invasive. At Centers for Pain Control and Vein Care, your provider starts your visit with a comprehensive back pain evaluation. After completing a physical examination, along with other advanced tests like X-rays, bone scans, or magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), they can identify the underlying condition and tell you if Minuteman is an option. 

During the Minuteman procedure, you lay face-down on an examination table as the team administers local anesthesia into your back. You also get intravenous anesthesia for the duration of the procedure. 

Your provider makes an incision over your spine so they can place the sterile Minuteman device with a bone graft. The bone graft allows the device to effectively fuse to your spine. They use fluoroscopy (X-ray) guidance throughout the procedure for a detailed view of your spine.
